Utah Pump-N-Run Continues Success at Northwest Premier Tournament in Boise

Highlighted by the 16U, class of 2014, and 15U, class of 2015, the Utah Pump-N-Run basketball program had another successful weekend last week at the Northwest Premier Invitational in Boise, Idaho. Both the 16U and 15U went undefeated on their way to the championship; the 16U team was never challenged while the 15U team won by 1-point in the championship game versus Idaho Select.

The 16U team was lead by the consistent play of Gene Luzcando who averaged 8.5 assists per game while Ryan Andrus, McKay Butler, Tyler Rawson and Jared Stutzman all had big performances in the championship game. In one game, Jake Connor exploded with 37 points, hitting shots from all over the floor.

The Utah Pump-N-Run 15U RED had a nice weekend from all seven of its players highlighted by strong performances from: Jesse Wade - 22.7 ppg/54% from 3, Malek Harwell - 19.7 ppg/3.5 apg, and Jarriesse Blackmon - 12.7 ppg/6.3 rpg. The Utah Pump-N-Run BLACK finished the tournament by winning 3 games as Bosten Van Der Veur and Sam Kingdon lead them to some strong wins.

Several college coaches from the NCAA D-II, NCAA, D-III, NAIA D-I, NAIA D-II and Junior College ranks were in attendance during the uncertified NCAA viewing period. NAIA schools like Westminster and Junior Colleges like Salt Lake Community College are able to recruit the entire year. In all, there were over 20 college programs watching the event. Therefore, this event was a good chance for players that may not be D-I players to receive looks from other quality basketball programs.

In all, Utah Pump-N-Run had six teams at the tournament from the 14U all the way up to the 17U age group. The 14U won the silver bracket as well.
