The Utah Pump N Run class of 2015 advanced to the Elite 8 out of 90 teams in their final tournament of the Spring, the Chicago Best Buy Classic. The #19 Nationally Ranked AAU team according to Five Star Basketball went 4-1 over the weekend while turning heads of several talent scouts in the process.
After wins over strong clubs such as Illinois Select, Wisconsin Playmakers, Indiana Elite Club South and Devin Harris DTA All-Stars, the Utah PnR 16U fell short in a tough game against the Michigan Mustangs.
During the weekend several Utah PnR players impressed scouts: Malek Harwell, Noah Togiai, Jarriesse Blackmon and Nathan Dow all garnered interest from scouting services based on their performance. Harwell led the team in scoring with a 30-point performance in a win of Devin Harris DTA All-Stars. Blackmon eclipsed 20 points in 3 of the 5 games while leading the team in rebounding. Togiai scored in double figures every game while Nathan Dow had a breakout 21-point game against the Wisconsin Playmakers.
Gabe Colosimo led the team in assists and steals while Brayden Holker played solid all weekend. Just as impressive, Brandon Warr, Tyler Lawrence, Izzy Ballstaedt and Sam Kingdon all contributed off the bench in several key moments. Each made critical plays in different games as they filled in nicely for regular 16U RED players Riley Court, Nathan Klekas, and Jake Lindsey.
Throughout the entire spring, the 2015 Utah PnR class finished with an 18-3 record, with one of their losses coming at the Northwest Premier Tournament in Boise in the 17U top division against Utah Pump-N-Run 17U RED Elite. Furthermore, the championship at the Double Pump Spring Classic headlined great performances in all tournaments including two quarterfinal and one semifinal appearances.
Up next, the 16U will compete in the Double Pump Tip Off and Best of Summer events before finishing the 2013 summer at the Adidas Super 64.
